The Canant Family's Horses

Major
Major was one beautiful horse.

Only my dad and I could ride him; he loved to run and always had to be held back using the longest curb bit with could find. One time I tried riding bareback with only a halter, no bit. He would run up to the top of a hill, pant and then take off running again. When I got close to home, I jumped off while he was running full speed and held onto the rope. Major just danced around me and did not touch me. I walked him home and put him back into the stable before dad found out.

Drill Team

Major was the lead horse for the drill team. In one of the routines, all of the horses would pass by Major posted at one end of the ring. As the horses passed in review, Major would rear up and prance with front feet; very regal.

3rd horse, Ronnie McKendree on white horse.
